Sometimes even our best efforts don't pay off
Welcome back to my playthrough of Koriko: A Magical Year. In this entry our witch struggles to help a repeat customer of hers.

Dear Wanderer,
I messed up badly. A boy in college named Aaron had become a regular customer at the stall I run in the local market. He played baseball and often bought several good luck charms for himself and his team. He said he wanted to play professionally one day. He had come to my stall for nearly all of spring until one day he just stopped coming. I was worried about him until I ran into him randomly walking through town. He was in a wheelchair. He told me the doctors said he might not be able to play ever again if his leg didn’t heal correctly. Either way, his chances of ever being picked up by a professional team were ruined of he couldn’t play for a whole season.
I couldn’t just let this be. I spent the better part of a week making a potion to heal Aaron’s leg. When I finished it, I found Aaron again and gave him the potion. To both our horror, he began to croak like a toad! I made him come back to my apartment and had him stay until I fixed his voice.
It took the rest of the day, but I managed to cure the accidental curse I put on him. I still feel terrible even though Aaron seemed to accept my apology. Still, I said I’d try to make it up to him and that I hope he healed okay (mending broken bones still seems beyond my reach). I told him that even if this door closes for him, that he could still find something good along the way. Plus, there’s other ways to be involved in sports than just playing one. That seemed to cheer him up if only a little bit. He said he’d do his best to heal well, and we wished each other the best going forward.
Not everything quite works out how we want it to at all time.
I’ve been trying to make small drawings for these entries but the next few didn’t have enough space let on the page in the journal I used to play this game… They’ll be back soon though!
Anyway, thank you so much for reading this far and next entry we’ll be closing up our Spring volume.
A hard lesson for Giselle here, but an important one. Magic can't fix everything and but kindness can fill in a lot of the gaps.
