Welcome to my playthrough of Koriko: A Magical year. In this solo rpg you play as a young witch as they set out on a journey to put to use all they’ve learned as witch. Our adventure has us following the young witch Giselle as she sets out to do just that. This first entry has us learning about Giselle who we will be following for the next in game year.

Dear Wanderer,
I suppose that’s how I’ll greet this journal. It’s a wanderer like me. My mentor suggested I start keeping a journal. It sounds tedious but I told myself I’d try my best at this whole witch thing and giving up without trying at all doesn’t sound like my best.
My name is Giselle (or Gi for short). I’m 16 and a witch in training. If you saw me around town you’d see my messy, short, maroon hair, my far away silver eyes, and calloused hands from gardening (gloves only seem to do so much). I usually wear a long beige cardigan over embroidered shirts and whatever colored pants and boots I decide for the day. I like to wear silver jewelry too. I usually carry around a messenger bag with a scene of fairies sewn into it. My dad gave me a book on herbs recently that I carry in it. I’ve been studying them a lot lately so I’m sure this will come in handy in the coming seasons.
You’ll probably see my familiar, Marble, if you run into me as well. She’s the grumpy-looking skunk that’s always clinging to me. She’s been with my family since my great grandmother’s time. Marble said she was tasked with watching over my family, but I feel like it’s me watching her usually. Our bond is unique to where we can understand each other, though no one seems to understand us when we talk.
Most people in my village say I’m rather aloof. I don’t think that’s true. I care about a lot of things, it’s just hard to show it all the time. Plus, the people close to me say I can be excitable when I want to be. I think overall I’m just more pragmatic than most, though I’d like to be more friendly with others. I think I can manage that.
Currently, I am writing this from Sparrow Creek, a quiet little village I’ve lived at all my life.
I lived with my parents until about two years ago. Now I live with my aunt just outside the village (though it’s only a quick bike ride away)! My aunt’s name is Melody and she’s the village witch. A lot of people tell me she can seem rather grumpy or scary but she’s quite caring when it’s just us. She kind of reminds me of Marble in that regard.
Since I decided to become a witch, Aunt Melody has been my mentor, teaching me the basics of the old ways. She’s taught me a lot, but it’s time to use what I’ve learned on my own, far from her guiding hand.
Marble and I will be leaving on the next full moon, just two days from now. We will be gone for one whole year. I hope in my time away I can show people that witchcraft isn’t dead. From what I’ve learned, it’s a beautiful art, and I refuse to see it fizzle out. I will help keep it alive for as long as I live too. I also hope to connect with the people in Koriko (where I’ll be going). While I do have friends, I still find it hard to bond with others. I will do my best in my time away to amend this.
This may sound silly, but I’ve been dreaming of my new home. When I do, I wake up with lingering memories of a shining river running under a stone bridge and of time worn buildings with ivy growing on them. I hope Koriko is a happy and beautiful place.

So for this first entry I followed the script the game offers a bit, but going forward it will be entirely free from. Also as a note I have fully completed my playthrough of Koriko so all these entries will be typed versions of what I wrote in my journal. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read this if you did! It means a lot.
Looking forward to more.
