Dear Wanderer,
I found something troubling recently. I had heard several people were worried there was a wolf running through the city. I decided to investigate out of concern. Plus, whatever wolf was stuck here probably just wanted to get back to the forest. I spoke with an undertaker of a nearby graveyard, and he was worried about the local stray cat population since a few of them haven’t turned up in a while (I will look into that as well). With that knowledge, I decided the graveyard was a good place to start my search and waited until night fall to investigate.
Eventually, I heard the howling of a wolf, and a large shadow leapt at me. It was a large thing, twice my size with razor claws on the light of the moon reflected off its teeth. On instinct, I called out to the plants around me to capture the beast and vines and roots quickly wrapped around it. It took a lot of convincing to get Marble not to spray it, but she calmed down when she saw I had everything under control.
Having captured the creature and able to look at them properly, I saw it was a werewolf! And despite it having just tried to attack me, I could tell they were scared. I grabbed the wolfsbane I had gathered beforehand after considering the possibility of this ‘wolf’ being a werewolf and used it to knock the werewolf out. My magic couldn’t hold them at bay all night and since it was a full moon they wouldn’t change back until morning. I simply covered the werewolf with a blanket and waited until sunrise.
Come morning, I had nearly fallen asleep, but the werewolf had changed back into a human girl that looked my age. She was scared of course (and Marble was still on high alert), but I managed to calm her down. I explained I was a witch and sat with her all night (I left out the part where she attacked me… was best not to startle her more). She told me her name was Sasha. She had scared hollow eyes and her whole body was trembling. What was left of her sweatshirt and jeans laid in tatters. I was very glad I had brought along that blanket for her own sake. She begged me to help her cure her lycanthropy. She said her wolf has only grown more violent each month since she was turned about a year ago. She’s terrified about what will happen if this continues on. I couldn’t deny such a desperate plea so of course I agreed to help.
I quickly got some extra clothes for Sasha and walked her home. I wasn’t going to take no for an answer. She said she lived with her parents, but they didn’t know about all of this. I agreed to keep her secret and to help in any way I could. Sasha, please stay safe, and I will find you a cure.
Moon Arcana. An unwitting human afflicted with a monstrous curse. Yeah, there was no way I wasn’t making a werewolf character. I kind of got a soft spot for characters who have monstrous traits but aren’t really monsters themselves.
Anyway, thank you all who have read this far and I hope you’re having a howling good day.
A moon and a monster does seem like a great fit for a Werewolf, I hope Giselle can help the poor girl!
